Hydrographics

Medway Ports Hydrographic department provides support to the Marine Division in its primary function of providing safe navigation in the Medway and Swale.

The team undertakes surveys of the bed and soil of the river and organise dredging on behalf of Medway Ports and other River users.

Hydrographic charts of the River Medway can be purchased from the Hydrographic office – for details. Charts are also supplied to the UK Hydrographic Office in Taunton.

Any river works, from inserting a pontoon to multi-million pound dredging projects require a River Works Licence. For further information and to download an application form and please see the Downloads section.

As well as charts, the Hydrographic department produces Notices to Mariners, which are available to view here and Tide Table booklets, which are available from the following outlets:
